Spring Weekend Retreat

soul child and the super-ego
with Don DeMercurio
May 28 – 30, 2010

One of the primary obstacles to our aliveness and creativity is found in the relationship between the “Super-Ego” (the Inner Critic) and a part of our psychological structure, which for all of us, was to a greater or lesser extent rejected at a very early age and stage of our development – the “Soul Child”.

Ultimately, in order to free up our aliveness, our sense of capacity and the energy that naturally propels us into our full potential – we need to understand and transform the stalemate that exists between these two opposing parts of ourself.

In part we will use the map of the Enneagram of personality types to understand the relationship between the Soul Child and the Super-ego (the over-seeing, internalized authority structure that keeps our expansion in check).

Learning to disengage from the Super-ego and develop a more mature and neutral relationship with it is essential to progressing in any kind of meaningful inner transformation.

It is not necessary to have been in the prior retreats or to have knowledge of the enneagram in order to benefit from and engage in this workshop as your actual understanding will come from accessing these structures directly through experiential exercises and personal inquiry. However, some familiarity with the enneagram and your enneatype will enhance your experience.

retreat details

Super-Ego and the Soul Child weekend residential retreat/workshop requires participation in the entire weekend. There will be one session Friday evening, 3 sessions on Saturday and 2 sessions on Sunday. If you haven’t been to one of the intensive weekends, you should know that we move through the weekend using every minute that is available to us. So try to give yourself some time before so that you arrive rested and ready to engage, as well as time after to integrate and digest the experience.
