self-discovery series

Reclaiming the Soul Child is part of a series of one-day workshops that will be offered in Rochester, NY and Burlington, VT dedicated to personal and spiritual transformation. Each of these workshops is offered as a practical exploration into the understanding that our personality is a doorway to the essential nature of our Soul. The workshops will include awareness practices, wisdom teachings and self-inquiry exercises.

workshop details

The Soul Child is a name given to one of the most problematic and simultaneously precious structures in our personality. It’s a part of our consciousness that was arrested in its development when we were very young and consequently feels like a young child. It was not fully allowed to be or supported by our environment in our early childhood and consequently its qualities have been suppressed and gradually become more and more hidden away. From the viewpoint of the enneagram, because these qualities are suppressed, we develop our personality type in counterpoint to them.

If we don’t get in touch with the soul child properly, we experience it in a negative way. It can be the reason that we consistently have problems with the same things, eg. when we have something important that we know we need to do or say and continually avoid it. On the other hand, when we are in touch with it in a healthy way, we are in touch with what makes us feel more vital and alive, more joy, strength, curiosity, etc. the way we were as children. And more like ourselves, who we really are. The integration of the soul child is what brings a sense of heartfulness to all that we do.

In this workshop we will look at the qualities of the soul child as it relates to each of the nine personality types through the map of the enneagram and begin the process of reclaiming the precious gifts of this essential part of ourselves.

It’s not necessary to have studied the enneagram but it would be useful to have a brief overview and an idea of your own enneatype. You can take a free personality type test by clicking on this link.
