Silent Fall Meditation Retreat

A weekend with the presence of Grace in the beauty of the Adirondack mountains

When we are with the silence of our Being we are filled with the Grace of the Beloved. It is then that we know the truth of who we are and the experience of True Meditation.

with Don DeMercurio

Friday, November 6 – Sunday, November 8, 2015

Priory Retreat House
Chestertown, New York

Pre-registration required. This is a residential retreat. All participants must commit to arriving prior to first session on Thursday and staying through last session on Sunday.
Limit: 25 participants

Who and what we truly are is both subtle and magnificent. Our essential Self longs to reveal itself and is most available to us when we are able to fully land in ourselves and experience our presence directly. What we come to recognize over time is that our presence is not “ours” at all but the presence of all that is.

The retreat is open to beginners and experienced meditators alike. No prior training is necessary. Instruction will be offered to orient you into to the loving embrace of stillness. You are however invited to use whatever practices support you in your own path – including contemplation, prayer, mantra, visualization or simply following the breath. You will be encouraged to approach yourself with loving kindness and openness throughout the weekend.

As this is a weekend of abundant stillness and luxurious silence you are welcome to use the hours and days in whatever way nourishes and serves your needs. The invitation is there to immerse yourself in an intensive meditation practice throughout the weekend if you wish to take advantage of the opportunity. You are also welcome to use the silence to read, journal, nap, take walks. The only request that you will be asked to observe for the weekend is to maintain silence.

what do we mean by silence?

Silence is one of the many faces of Love. It is perhaps the deepest manifestation of Love that Being has given to humanity. It is the ultimate ground of Being, out of which each of us was created and into which we will again be absorbed. To experience silence deeply and directly is to know its fullness and luminosity.

In a practical sense, the most direct experience is the cessation talking. To go a step further silence also means suspending all forms of communication. Turning off your cell phones, leaving i-pods, i-pads, laptops etc. at home or in your car for the weekend will insure that everyone has the opportunity to deepen with as little disruption as possible. A contact number will be given out in the event that someone needs to be reached in an emergency. We will abstain from physical contact and eye contact during the period of silence.

In the tradition of spiritual community we will share in the responsibilities of getting food out for meals and cleaning up after meals as well as taking turns as time-keeper for the meditation sessions.
